In this first class, you will learn the structure and general steps you need to complete your synthetic biology project, using practical case studies of real world applications.

  • How do I choose a host organism? 

  • How do I model biological circuits mathematically?

  • How do I design the genes and proteins for my host organism?

  • How do I regulate gene expression?​​

  • How do I assemble DNA? (recombinant DNA & modern assembly techniques​)

  • How do I transform microorganisms​?

  • How do I screen the strains I create?

  • How do I use standardized parts?​

  • How do you ensure my project follows ethics and regulatory standards?
